A full-time Registered Nurse opportunity is available on the Cardiology/Intermediate Care unit at a 198-bed Level III Trauma Center in Farmington, New Mexico. Serving the Four Corners region of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah, this hospital provides comprehensive healthcare services, including medical and surgical care, rehabilitation, cancer treatment, nephrology, behavioral health, pediatrics, and women's services. The facility also holds PCI, Mammography, and Laboratory accreditations.
The Registered Nurse will join a 24-bed Cardiology/Intermediate Care unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with a variety of complex cardiac and medical conditions, including STEMI, non-STEMI, stroke, post-cardiac catheterization recovery, and alcohol-related illnesses. This role involves caring for Intermediate Care patients receiving titratable medications while also managing medical-surgical patients based on unit needs and patient acuity. The nurse works closely with the interdisciplinary team, utilizing advanced telemetry monitoring and evidence-based nursing practices to deliver safe, compassionate, and high-quality care.
Responsibilities:
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for Cardiology and Intermediate Care patients.
Monitor patients with cardiac conditions, stroke, post-catheterization recovery, and other complex medical diagnoses.
Safely manage titratable drips and closely monitor patient responses.
Interpret telemetry findings and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
Collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge planning.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation within the electronic medical record.
Promote patient safety and quality outcomes in a fast-paced acute care environment.
Qualifications:
Associate degree in Nursing or higher required.
Active Registered Nurse license required. Candidates without a New Mexico or Compact license must obtain licensure prior to start.
Minimum of one year of Cardiology or Intermediate Care experience required.
Minimum of two years of acute care experience in Cardiology or Intermediate Care preferred.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon submission.
Strong cardiac assessment, telemetry interpretation, and critical thinking skills.
