A full-time Cardiovascular Cath Lab Registered Nurse opportunity is available at a 250+ bed regional hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. This facility is recognized with 5-star ratings for heart attack treatment, bowel obstruction care, and colorectal surgery, and serves as a major referral center for the Anchorage community. The Cardiovascular Cath Lab RN provides direct patient care in a 3-room cath lab performing an average of 4–6 procedures daily. This role supports a wide range of invasive cardiovascular, vascular, neuro, and interventional procedures, including cardiac catheterizations, coronary interventions, electrophysiology studies and ablations, interventional radiology, neuro diagnostics and interventions, endovascular procedures, and structural heart cases such as LAAC and TAVR. The nurse is responsible for guiding patients through all phases of care, including pre-procedure preparation, intra-procedure monitoring, sterile technique support, sedation administration, hemostasis management, and post-procedure recovery and transport. Strong communication using SBAR is essential for safe handoffs and coordinated care across the interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care during invasive cardiovascular and interventional procedures.

  • Circulate, monitor, and assist in sedation medication administration, including drips.

  • Prepare patients for procedures and support sterile technique in the procedural suite.

  • Monitor patient status throughout procedures and respond to emergent situations.

  • Assist with sheath removal and hemostasis management post-procedure.

  • Ensure safe transport and handoff of patients back to inpatient units.

  • Accurately document all procedural details and nursing interventions.

  • Prepare diagnostic tests and procedural data for physician interpretation.

  • Communicate effectively using SBAR with physicians and care team members.

  • Participate in on-call rotation with rapid response availability.

Qualifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse license in good standing; Alaska RN license required.

  • Associate degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.

  • Minimum of three years of Cath Lab experience OR five years of high-acuity experience (ICU or similar) required.

  • Demonstrated experience with circulating, monitoring, and sedation medication administration, including drips.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.

  • Strong critical thinking, procedural, and communication skills.

  • Ability to respond on-site within 30 minutes for on-call assignments.

Schedule:

  • Full-time

  • 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)

  • Weekend and holiday call required

  • Approximately 8–10 call days per 4-week period
