Registered Nurse (RN) Cath Lab
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-performing cardiovascular team at a respected 258-bed acute care teaching hospital and Level II Trauma Center. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced cardiac catheterization laboratory utilizing advanced technology while providing exceptional patient care throughout diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.
Position Details
- Specialty: Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN)
- Schedule: 4 x 10-hour shifts
- Shift Start Time: 7:30 AM
- Charting System: Epic (Excellian)
- Scrub Color: Hospital provided
Patient Volume
- Average daily census: 10–20 procedures across 4 Cath Labs
- Approximately 12 patient visits per day
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care before, during, and after cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures.
- Administer and monitor conscious sedation in accordance with hospital policies.
- Continuously monitor patients using telemetry and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
- Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary care team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic.
- Participate in the on-call rotation to support emergent and after-hours procedures.
- Float between Mercy Coon Rapids and Mercy Unity campuses as needed to meet patient care demands.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (pending license accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of Cath Lab nursing experience
- Previous critical care experience required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Current BLS (BCLS) and ACLS certifications required
- Epic experience required
Preferred Qualifications
- Scrub experience
- Ventilator experience
Schedule & On-Call Requirements
- Four 10-hour shifts per week beginning at 7:30 AM
- On-call required:
- Every 4th weekend
- 1–2 weekdays per week, based on department needs
- Block scheduling may be considered depending on departmental scheduling needs.
Traveler Information
- Floating: Required between Mercy Coon Rapids and Mercy Unity campuses within the RN scope of practice.
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (must reside outside a 100-mile radius).
- Requested Time Off: Ideally limited to no more than 5 days.
Guaranteed Hours
Travel clinicians may be scheduled for 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts based on operational needs.
- Travelers assigned to 12-hour shifts are guaranteed a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Travelers assigned to 8- or 10-hour shifts are guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours per week.
