    Description

    Job Title: Registered Nurse – Cath Lab

    Location: Hackensack, NJ
    Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks

    Schedule

    • Shift: Days
    • Hours: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
    • Schedule: 3 x 12-hour shifts (36 hours/week)
    • Weekends: None, unless scheduled for on-call coverage
    • Holidays: None, unless scheduled for on-call coverage
    • On-Call: Required (approximately every 5 weeks, subject to staffing needs)

    Position Overview

    We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Cath Lab to join a high-volume cardiovascular team. The ideal candidate will have extensive Cath Lab experience and be capable of functioning independently as an intra-procedural RN, providing patient care during minimally invasive cardiovascular procedures. This role requires expertise in procedural documentation, medication administration, patient monitoring, and circulating responsibilities while collaborating closely with physicians and the multidisciplinary care team.

    Responsibilities

    • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for Cath Lab patients.
    • Function as the intra-procedural RN during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.
    • Administer medications and monitor patient responses throughout procedures.
    • Serve as the circulating nurse during minimally invasive cardiovascular procedures.
    • Accurately document patient care and procedural information using the electronic medical record.
    • Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures, including Left Heart Catheterization (LHC) and Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI).
    • Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, responding promptly to changes in condition.
    • Maintain a safe, sterile environment while following hospital policies and evidence-based practices.
    • Participate in on-call coverage for emergency cardiac procedures during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
    • Collaborate with physicians, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

    Required Qualifications

    Education

    • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required.
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

    Experience

    • Recent Cath Lab nursing experience required.
    • Critical care experience preferred.
    • Experience functioning as an intra-procedural RN in a cardiac catheterization laboratory.
    • Experience with EPIC and Sensis systems preferred.

    • Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI)
    • Medication administration during invasive procedures
    • Hemodynamic monitoring
    • Balloon Pump (IABP)
    • Impella device management
    • Mac-Lab documentation system
    • EPIC electronic medical record

    Preferred Skills

    • Shockwave and atherectomy device experience
    • Vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures
    • Neuro diagnostic and interventional procedures
    • Circulating during pacemaker insertion
    • Pulmonary embolism intervention experience

    Required Licensure & Certifications

    • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) License or Multistate Compact RN License
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
    • Telemetry certification

    Additional Information

    • 36-hour work week (3 x 12-hour shifts).
    • No scheduled weekends or holidays unless assigned to on-call coverage.
    • On-call participation is required to support emergency cardiac procedures and may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays based on department needs.
    • Experience with advanced cardiovascular support devices such as Impella, IABP, Shockwave, and atherectomy systems is highly desirable.
