Type: Part-Time (Sunday & Monday, 12pm-10pm or 2pm-10pm) / New York State Agency
Position Summary
Penda Aiken inc. is a staffing firm located in Brooklyn New York. Our client is a New York State Agency and is seeking a detail-oriented Nurse professional to join the Brookwood Secure Center for Youth. These roles focus on providing nursing interventions and medication administration consistent with the established systematic problem-solving approach for the delivery of comprehensive nursing care, which are compliant with the regulatory standards in a juvenile correctional setting. The successful candidates will be responsible for general medical inventory, medication administration, and evaluating nursing intervention plans for an American Correctional Association accredited facility serving approximately 98 male juvenile offenders. Supervision staff will be present at all times when the employee is providing nursing care to youth.

This is a fast-paced role requiring high reliability, punctuality, and the ability to meet strict deadlines while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Medication Administration: Conduct regular medication administration and maintain general medical inventory, including the tracking of controlled substances.

  • Health Evaluation: Review the overall health conditions of youth by preparing, reviewing, and evaluating nursing intervention plans to ensure consistency with comprehensive treatment plans.

  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare all required clinical and administrative reports in accordance with regulatory and facility standards.

  • Infection Control: Maintain strict infection control standards across the medical unit and participate in facility staff trainings.

  • Treatment Team Collaboration: Serve as an active member of the facility’s medical treatment team to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensure: Licensed and registered to practice nursing in New York State 

  • Schedule Availability: Ability to work the required part-time shift on Sundays and Mondays (either 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM or 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM).

  • Professional Standards: Ability to adhere to facility guidelines, including the business casual or scrubs dress code.
