Description:
Position Purpose: The Program Coordinator provides administrative oversight within the Bariatric Center under the supervision of the Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery. This position will be comprised of both administrative and clinical roles for the purpose of development of the Bariatric Surgical Program and the care of its patients.
What you will do:
Develops, coordinates and provides the education for patients, families, nursing an ancillary staff. Serves as a liaison between the bariatric center and other services lines in Saint Francis hospital for the coordination in care of bariatric surgical patients.
Participate in staff and patient education as well as work in cooperation with the medical director to develop and manage community outreach efforts with other provider offices and community events.
Coordinates staff within assigned practices to ensure proper coverage for quality patient care along with monitoring attendance for all practice employees
Serves as a liaison and chief compliance officer for the hospital and bariatric center with regards to MVSAQIP requirements. Assists with center development, maintaining relevant policies and procedures, patient education materials, outcomes of data collection, quality improvement efforts, and ensure continuous compliance with MBSAQIP requirements.
Clinical support to patients of calls received from the office in regards to pre and post op concerns.
Pre-surgery concierge appointment calls with each patient scheduled for surgery to review diet progression, clearances, medication adjustments, CPAP usage during hospital stay, post-op instructions and follow up appointment. Post op rounds on patient floor, follow up phone calls, and sharing of surgeon slash dietary follow up post-operative.
Staff education of bariatric team all hospital staff in regards to sensitivity training, bariatric surgical pre post training both initially and annually.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited college or university affiliated nursing program. BSN graduate preferred.
Licensure: Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse RN in Connecticut.
Certification: BLS (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Experience: Bariatric experience or surgical experience preferred
