Registered Nurse – Correctional

Location: Romulus, NY 14541
Contract: 26–52 Weeks
Schedule: 40 Hours/Week

• 2 × 12-hour shifts: 9:00 AM–9:00 PM
• 2 × 8-hour shifts: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

Travel Weekly Gross: $2,700.60

Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) to provide direct nursing care in a correctional healthcare setting. The RN will be responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing nursing care plans, administering treatments, monitoring patient conditions, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Requirements

• Active New York State RN license and registration required.
• Must complete the required New York State Criminal History Form prior to starting.
• Background clearance may take up to 4 weeks.
• Medical exemptions are permitted only for applicable vaccination requirements.
• In-person interview is strongly preferred; a phone interview may be considered for highly qualified candidates.
• Previous correctional, institutional, or acute-care nursing experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to incarcerated individuals.
• Conduct comprehensive health assessments and document findings.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications, treatments, and nursing interventions according to established protocols.
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond appropriately to clinical needs.
• Provide health education, counseling, and patient support.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals.
• Communicate significant changes in patient condition to the appropriate healthcare providers.
• Provide clinical supervision, guidance, and training to LPNs and direct-care staff.
• Follow applicable healthcare, safety, security, and correctional facility procedures.
