Registered Nurse – Crisis Intervention

$5,000 Hiring Bonus

A $5,000 hiring bonus is available for eligible new Crisis Receiving Center night-shift RNs.

The bonus is paid in three installments:

• $2,000 after completion of required background clearances, including fingerprinting, satisfactory drug screening, and acceptable references.
• $1,500 after successful completion of the 6-month probationary period.
• $1,500 after completion of 12 months of continuous employment and a satisfactory performance evaluation.

The hiring bonus is available to eligible new hires and individuals who have not been employed by the organization for at least one year prior to the application date.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive nursing care in a Crisis Receiving and Stabilization Center. The RN will be responsible for the overall medical care of assigned individuals, including patients receiving crisis stabilization services, detoxification services, and those requiring medical clearance.

The role involves conducting nursing assessments, administering medications, performing diagnostic procedures, providing patient and family education, consulting with physicians and other healthcare providers, and carrying out authorized medical orders.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to individuals receiving crisis stabilization, detoxification, and medical clearance services.
• Conduct nursing assessments and medical interviews to obtain relevant patient information.
• Develop appropriate nursing interventions and coordinate referrals as needed.
• Administer medications safely according to established protocols and the five rights of medication administration.
• Perform and document diagnostic procedures and clinical assessments.
• Obtain, interpret, document, and communicate relevant laboratory results.
• Carry out physician and other authorized healthcare provider orders.
• Provide patient and family education regarding treatment, medications, health conditions, and follow-up care.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
• Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changes in clinical status.
• Assist individuals safely with physical management, transfers, lifting, and use of appropriate equipment.
• Train and support staff in implementing appropriate care and intervention programs.
• Participate in behavioral intervention training, including verbal de-escalation and approved physical intervention techniques when required.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Follow applicable nursing standards, healthcare regulations, safety procedures, and organizational policies.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience providing nursing services as an RN.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or an appropriate multistate nursing license.
• Strong knowledge of nursing principles, procedures, and best practices.
• Ability to administer medications safely and accurately.
• Strong assessment, clinical judgment, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Ability to work with individuals experiencing behavioral health or crisis-related needs.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability and willingness to travel between assigned healthcare locations when required.
• Ability to successfully complete required behavioral intervention training.

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN preferred.
• Previous experience in behavioral health, crisis stabilization, detoxification, emergency care, or psychiatric nursing preferred.
• Previous LPN experience may be considered for candidates who subsequently became RNs; however, prior LPN experience may not count toward RN compensation determination.

Additional Requirements

• Must be willing and available to work modified schedules, including weekends and holidays, as required.
• May be required to travel to other healthcare locations.
• May be required to transport or provide services to individuals at alternate locations.
• Regular attendance at required training sessions and meetings may involve travel.
• Must be able to safely assist individuals with physical needs, including lifting, transfers, and equipment use.
