Registered Nurse (RN) – Electrophysiology Cath Lab

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Electrophysiology Cath Lab to join a high-performing cardiovascular procedural team. In this role, you will provide specialized nursing care in the Electrophysiology (EP), Cardiac Catheterization, and Vascular Laboratories while collaborating closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate has prior procedural experience, excellent critical-thinking skills, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Assignment Details

• Employment Type: Direct Hire

• Schedule: Full-Time

• Preferred Shift: Four 10-hour weekday shifts, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM

• Alternative Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts (combination of weekdays and one weekend day), 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM

• On-Call: No weekend call required

Key Responsibilities

Procedural Nursing Care

• Deliver evidence-based nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, and vascular procedures.

• Assist physicians during invasive procedures by performing procedural nursing responsibilities, including scrubbing, circulating, and patient monitoring.

• Administer medications and therapies according to physician orders and established clinical protocols.

• Continuously assess and monitor patient condition before, during, and after procedures.

• Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient status.

Clinical Documentation

• Accurately document patient assessments, treatments, medications, and procedural events.

• Maintain complete and timely electronic medical records.

• Communicate critical patient information effectively to physicians and healthcare team members.

Quality & Patient Safety

• Promote patient safety and comfort throughout the procedural experience.

• Interpret clinical data and support informed patient care decisions.

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice activities.

• Assist in developing and maintaining departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care.

Collaboration & Professional Development

• Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, technologists, and other healthcare professionals.

• Participate in departmental education, committee work, and governance activities.

• Maintain clinical competencies and support a culture of continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

• Additional education or training in cardiovascular, electrophysiology, critical care, or procedural nursing is preferred.

Licensure

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.

Experience

• Previous Electrophysiology (EP), Cardiac Catheterization Lab, or other procedural nursing experience is strongly preferred.

• Candidates with prior invasive procedural experience will be given strong consideration.

• Ability to work independently in a high-acuity procedural environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Electrophysiology (EP) laboratory experience.

• Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory experience.

• Critical Care (ICU) or Emergency Department (ED) experience with invasive procedures.

• Experience with moderate sedation, hemodynamic monitoring, and cardiac rhythm interpretation.

• Familiarity with invasive cardiovascular equipment and procedural workflows.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout extended procedures.

• Ability to lift and assist with moving patients and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to wear radiation-protective lead apparel for prolonged periods.

• Manual dexterity and coordination required for procedural nursing responsibilities.

• Ability to work safely in an environment with exposure to radiation, blood, bodily fluids, and other clinical hazards while following established safety protocols.

Work Environment

This position is based in a high-volume Electrophysiology and Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory where teamwork, precision, and rapid clinical decision-making are essential. The department is seeking experienced procedural nurses who can contribute immediately with minimal onboarding, making prior Electrophysiology, Cath Lab, or other invasive procedural experience highly desirable.
