Registered Nurse - Emergency Department Director

Position Highlights

• Leadership opportunity at a community hospital's ED
• Manage approximately 25-30 RNs in a specialized environment
• Schedule: Monday-Friday, approximately 8:30 AM-4:30 PM or 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
• On-call availability required for operational issues after hours
• Supported by Nurse Supervisors and an Administrative Assistant
• Direct patient care is generally not expected, but candidate should be willing to assist clinically during unusually high-volume situations
• EMR: Meditech (hospital planning transition to a more advanced version)

 

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Emergency Department team effectively
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and documentation requirements
• Address performance concerns and enforce standards consistently
• Engage with staff and department operations actively
• Mentor and develop nursing staff, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence

 

Requirements

• 5 years of ED nursing experience
• 1-2 years of leadership experience as an Assistant Nurse Manager, Nurse Manager, or Director
• Strong staff management, coaching, and accountability skills
• Excellent documentation and regulatory/compliance oversight experience
• Strong personality with proven leadership presence
• Must be hands-on, visible, and engaged with staff and department operations
• Prior experience in community hospital or smaller specialized environments preferred
