Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ED)

Location:   Philadelphia, PA
Contract Duration: 8 Weeks
Shift:  7:00pm-7:00am 
Schedule: Every Other Weekend (EOW) Required

Job Summary

Client is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to join its 29-bed Emergency Department located in the historic district of downtown Philadelphia. The ED manages more than 36,000 patient visits annually, providing emergency care to a diverse patient population across multiple specialties. This is an excellent opportunity for an adaptable RN with strong emergency nursing skills who thrives in a fast-paced acute care environment.

  • Facility Type: Acute Care Teaching Hospital
  • Trauma Designation: Non-Level I Trauma Center

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to emergency department patients with a wide range of acute and critical medical conditions.
  • Perform rapid patient assessments, triage, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and emergency interventions according to physician orders.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Utilize Epic EMR for accurate documentation and patient charting.
  • Respond quickly to medical emergencies while maintaining high-quality patient care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention protocols, and patient safety standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active Pennsylvania RN License (or Compact License if applicable)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department (ED) RN experience
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred
  • Current BLS (AHA) Certification
  • ACLS (AHA) Certification
  • PALS (AHA) Certification (preferred/required per facility)
  • Strong emergency assessment and critical thinking skills

Schedule Requirements

  • Must be available to work Days, Evenings, and Night shifts during the 8-week assignment
  • Every Other Weekend (EOW) required
  • Must be flexible with scheduling based on department needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous travel nursing experience
  • Experience in a high-volume Emergency Department
  • Experience using Epic EMR
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced emergency care environment
