Responsibilities:
- Assesses the needs of patients and families, providing appropriate education and referrals to support continuity of care.
- Develops an individualized plan of care in collaboration with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Delivers high-quality patient care utilizing the nursing process while demonstrating the specialized knowledge and clinical skills required for the role.
- Promptly and accurately completes documentation to ensure a complete legal record of patient care.
- Utilizes a holistic approach to care, considering the biopsychosocial, spiritual, educational, and safety needs of patients and families.
- Utilizes critical thinking to make independent clinical judgments while maintaining responsibility and accountability for assigned patients.
- Demonstrates a commitment to patient and workplace safety by preventing errors, accidents, and infections and promptly reporting potential or actual concerns.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Diploma from an accredited RN program required.
- BSN degree preferred.
Experience:
- One year of hospital clinical experience required.
License(s)/Certification(s):
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in good standing in the primary state required.
- Must apply for RN licensure in the secondary state within 90 days.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
- Illinois Sexual Assault Certification of Completion required within one year of attending Didactic Training.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrates multicultural sensitivity and a customer/patient-focused approach.
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to use independent judgment in decision-making.
- Occasional travel to other UPH facilities may be required.
