The Registered Nurse - Emeritus (RN-E) supports the work of the Department through servant leadership and demonstrated expertise. As a recognized clinical, educational, or nursing leadership expert, the RN-E demonstrates sound assessment and critical reasoning skills and consistently models high standards of nursing practice and professional accountability. The RN-E confers accumulated knowledge and expertise to less experienced colleagues by creating a psychologically-safe environment conducive to ongoing professional learning. This is a per diem position with an expectation of 16 hours per quarter. An RN-E may be assigned to clinical, educational, or nursing leadership tracks.

Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  1. Assisting or supporting preceptor functions

  2. Mentoring nurses in new roles

  3. Contribute to unique, hospital/system-wide projects at the direction of senior nursing leadership

  4. Supports Nurse Managers with special projects in quality, patient satisfaction or other unit-based priorities

  5. Provides just in time and/or unit-level education and coaching

  6. Emergency response support (clinical)

  7. Unit Champion/Superuser

  8. Verify competencies

  9. Supports the performance of quality audits

  10. Supports the performance of safety rounds

  11. Other duties that may be assigned

  5. Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Clinical Track: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Education Track: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Master's strongly preferred
  • Leadership Track: Master's Degree with Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Licensure, Certification, Registration: BLS; specialty certification preferred. Current MA nursing license.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Self-directed nursing professional with exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills. Proficient with technology commensurate with role, i.e., EPIC; Word; PowerPoint; Excel.

Experience: Minimum 10 years nursing experience; one year at LHMC strongly preferred.

Pay Range:

$85.00 - $85.00

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
