Registered Nurse/ER

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced Acute Care Hospital Emergency Department. The ideal candidate will have strong emergency nursing skills, the ability to prioritize rapidly changing patient conditions, and experience managing a diverse range of emergency cases.

Schedule

• Shift: 3x12-hour shifts
• Primary Shifts:
  • Evenings: 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM
  • Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (rotation as needed)
• Weekend Requirement: Work 1–2 weekends out of every 3-week schedule (varies based on department needs)
• On-Call: Not required
• Block Scheduling: Not available

Unit Details

• Emergency Department Visits: Approximately 40 patients per day
• Exam Rooms: 16
• Licensed Beds: 24
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
  • Days: 1:4
  • Nights: 1:5
  • Weekends: 1:5

Minimum Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (pending license accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BCLS/BLS (Basic Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Preferred Certifications

• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Clinical Responsibilities

The ER RN will provide comprehensive emergency nursing care, including but not limited to:

• Rapid assessment, triage, and stabilization of emergency patients
• IV insertion and medication administration
• Cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
• EKG acquisition and interpretation support
• Moderate (conscious) sedation monitoring
• Cardioversion assistance
• Sepsis protocol implementation
• Care of behavioral health and mental health patients
• Participation in trauma activations, stroke alerts, and code responses
• Assistance with BiPAP and ventilator setup (Charge Nurse support available)
• Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality patient care
• Float to other appropriate units within RN scope of practice as needed to meet facility staffing requirements

Preferred Skills & Experience

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:

• Charge Nurse responsibilities
• Emergency Department triage
• Conscious sedation
• Mechanical ventilator management
• Telemetry monitoring
• Trauma and critical care workflows

Equipment Experience

Candidates should be comfortable using or willing to learn:

• BiPAP
• NICOM Hemodynamic Monitoring
• Bladder Scanner
• Fluid Warmers
• Nihon Kohden patient monitors
• V1200 Ventilators
• Baxter IV Pumps

Additional Information

• Local candidates residing within a 100-mile radius are not eligible.
• Pending RN licenses will be considered.
• Requested time off should ideally not exceed 5 days.
• Guaranteed hours are subject to facility policy. The facility reserves the right to cancel up to three scheduled shifts during the assignment without penalty. On-call hours do not count toward guaranteed minimum hours.
