What You’ll Do
  • Provide direct patient care for a broad ED population, from newborn through geriatric patients
  • Assess, triage, and manage patients with conditions such as respiratory distress, GI bleeds, stroke/NIHSS, CHF, dysrhythmias, minor trauma, and more
  • Support time-sensitive care needs including MS-related symptoms, diabetes, COPD, and acute mental health/substance use presentations
  • Work within ED holds and varied acuity (including MS, Peds, Stepdown, and ICU holds as applicable)
  • Administer medications and manage therapies, including gtt management when applicable to the role
  • Perform and document nursing care using the assigned charting system and equipment
  • Collaborate with the ED team (charge nurse, RT on-site, hospitalist available 24/7, and in-house support services)

What You Need Required
  • RN license
  • 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • CPI or MOAB
  • NIHSS
  • Ability to successfully complete required compliance steps, including an EKG competency exam prior to arrival (as part of compliance)
Preferred
  • Experience caring for a wide variety of ED diagnoses and acuity levels
  • Strong critical thinking and dosage calculation skills

About the Assignment
This ED role supports a 19-bed ED with single-bed rooms and Fast Track beds, handling a wide range of emergent presentations including stroke/NIHSS, respiratory distress, cardiopulmonary conditions, minor trauma, and behavioral health/substance use-related visits. Care is delivered with a multidisciplinary team including 24/7 RT support and hospitalist coverage, using Meditech Expanse for charting and Pyxis for medication dispensing.
