Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical / RNFA Responsibilities

  • Locate and document medical and nursing patient care information in the electronic or paper medical record.
  • Utilize appropriate interview techniques to obtain patient history within established timeframes and provide appropriate interventions.
  • Identify standards of care common to the patient population, including age-specific considerations and barriers to learning.
  • Deliver patient care and treatment using problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of medication dosages for the patient population served and administer medications safely.
  • Evaluate outcomes of care to determine if patient needs were met.
  • Complete chart forms fully, accurately, and legibly with no blanks left incomplete.
  • Provide feedback regarding problems and complaints, offer constructive suggestions, and utilize the chain of command for conflict resolution.
  • Complete care assignments in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Communicate patient care needs and pending tasks to the oncoming shift as appropriate.
  • Follow organizational standards related to timekeeping and attendance systems.
  • Maintain current clinical knowledge, policies, procedures, and competencies through continuing education and in-service attendance.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team during procedures.
  • Serve as a preceptor for new employees, coworkers, and students; validate clinical and technical competencies and evaluate performance.
  • Maintain communication with patient families/significant others throughout the continuum of care.
  • Participate in on-call rotation as required.

Supervisory / Clinic Operations Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and daily oversight of Medical Assistants and clinic support staff at the Estero and Naples locations.
  • Coordinate staffing assignments and workflow to ensure efficient clinic operations and appropriate patient coverage.
  • Monitor employee performance, attendance, productivity, and adherence to organizational policies and standards.
  • Assist with interviewing, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance evaluations of clinic staff.
  • Address employee concerns and escalate disciplinary or performance issues to leadership and Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Promote a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, safety regulations, and clinical protocols.
  • Collaborate with physicians and leadership to improve patient flow, operational efficiency, and patient satisfaction.
  • Monitor clinical supply inventory and assist with ordering and maintaining adequate stock levels.
  • Support implementation of organizational initiatives, policies, and process improvements.
  • Assist with scheduling coordination, coverage planning, and management of clinic operational needs.
  • Ensure quality patient care standards are consistently maintained across both clinic locations.
  • Serve as a liaison between physicians, staff, patients, and administration to facilitate communication and problem resolution.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida.
  • Successful completion of a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) course approved by a Florida Board of Nursing provider.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of perioperative nursing experience, including demonstrated proficiency as both a scrub and circulating nurse.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a clinical or ambulatory setting preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing practice and the nursing process.
  • Ability to lead teams, manage workflow, and effectively resolve conflicts.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows, and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
