Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Hyperbaric Supervisor provides direct care to Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy patients as prescribed by the (Medical) Director Wound Recovery Center or attending Hyperbaric physician operates and maintains the HBOT chambers and associated systems and equipment and evaluates the care for clients according to age-specific criteria. The RN works within the State Practice Act and follows all Hyperbaric Medicine Wound Recovery Center and Kent Hospital policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities:

A.    Operates maintains and ensures the safety of the hyperbaric facility and all associated systems and equipment prepares the chamber equipment and materials needed for patients undergoing HBOT.

B.    Carries out protocols of treatment as prescribed under physician’s direction observes patients and system during course of HBOT documents patient condition and reports unusual occurrences to HBO supervisor and Medical Director (physician on duty.)

C.    Maintains operating maintenance and safety logs and other required documentation performs preventive and other required maintenance (except yearly/biannual factory service) on the chamber/system as needed.

D.    Is responsible for cleanliness of equipment per policy assists/maintains a neat orderly work area appropriate inventory of supplies.

E.    Demonstrates competence in patient and family education including the purpose and procedure of HBOT. Maintains an active role in HBO education programs and orienting patient/family and visitors to unit.  Participates in Quality Assurance and attends center meetings.

F.    Demonstrates competence in hyperbaric patient assessments including but not limited to vital signs ear assessments wound assessments standard wound care sterile technique and photography per Wound Recovery Center/Hyperbaric Medicine policy/procedures.

G.    Demonstrates clinical competence in nursing skills under State Practice Act

H.  Performs all other duties as assigned 

Requirements:

A.    Registered nurse with current state license in good standing required with minimum 2-3 years med. Surg. Critical care preferred. BLS certification required ACLS preferred
B.    Successful completion of NBDHMT/UHMS approved Hyperbaric Medicine Introductory course.
C.    Able to implement holistic approach to patient care.
