Registered Nurse – ICU

Facility: Lovelace Medical Center (Ardent Health Services)
Location: Albuquerque, NM

Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night 4x12-Hour (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
Schedule: 4x12 Nights (Option of 36 or 48 Hours), 6 Weekend Shifts per Schedule Period
Charting System: EPIC
Float Required: Yes – May float to MS, Stepdown, PCU, ER, and CVICU (maximum of 4 patients while floating)

Note: First-time travelers accepted. Pending New Mexico or Compact RN license accepted but must be obtained prior to start. 48 hours at straight time allowed. 

Position Overview:

The Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse provides comprehensive critical care to adult patients with life-threatening medical, surgical, neurological, and cardiovascular conditions. The RN delivers evidence-based, high-acuity nursing care while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced ICU environment.

Job duties:

Provide comprehensive critical care nursing to adult ICU patients, perform ongoing patient assessments, monitor hemodynamic status, manage ventilated patients, administer and titrate vasoactive medications, cardiac drips, insulin infusions, continuous IV sedation, and blood products, manage arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, chest tubes, and IV access, provide ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, airway suctioning, and arterial blood gas interpretation, care for patients with acute stroke, renal failure, GI surgical conditions, multisystem organ dysfunction, and neurological conditions, assist with hypothermia protocols, collaborate with rapid response teams and interdisciplinary staff, maintain infection prevention and isolation precautions, educate patients and families, and accurately document patient care.

Requirements:

Licensure: Active New Mexico RN License or Compact RN License (Pending accepted; must be obtained prior to start)
Experience: Minimum 2 years of ICU experience preferred (1+ year considered); First-time travelers accepted
Certifications: ACLS (Required), NIHSS (Required), BLS (Preferred)
Other requirement: Experience with 1:2 ICU patient ratios. Proficiency in ventilator management, arterial and central line care, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, vasoactive drip titration, continuous IV sedation, chest tube management, respiratory support, stroke care, renal failure, infection prevention, and willingness to float to like units within scope.
