Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU Step Down
Location: Bronx, NY
Unit: ICU Step Down
Shift: Night Shift | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Patient Ratio: 1:4 (Young Adult to Geriatric)
About the Role:
Seeking an experienced RN for the ICU Step Down unit to provide specialized care for high-acuity patients transitioning from intensive care.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor patients requiring ventilators, tracheostomies, cardiac monitors, feeding tubes, and catheters
Perform frequent patient assessments and escalate condition changes appropriately
Respond to rapid response and cardiac arrest situations
Provide specialized care for step-down level patients
Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
Maintain accurate patient documentation
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Ensure patient safety and quality care standards
Requirements & Preferred Skills:
Minimum 2 years ICU or Medical/Surgical Step Down experience required
Minimum 2 years IV insertion and phlebotomy experience required
Minimum 2 years conscious sedation experience required
Associate Degree in Nursing required
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Active New York RN license required
NYSED Primary Source Verification required
AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
Strong critical care and patient assessment skills
Ability to work in high-acuity environments
