To demonstrate support of the hospital mission and vision by providing nursing care. This Registered Nurse will coordinate the new intake pathway of undiagnosed breast patients for our Zion and Morton Grove breast care centers. Demonstrates the ability to assess, coordinate, plan, monitor, implement and evaluate the patient’s plan of care while ensuring and facilitating the achievement of optimal quality and clinical outcomes. Provides professional nursing services in the direct and indirect care of patients and assists with all breast biopsies in Mammography, US and MRI departments at the Zion site.

The successful candidate:

• Must be able to work ONSITE Mon-Fri. 7:30a-4:00p No Call. No Holidays.
• This Navigator RN will abstract patients’ relevant medical history and assures all necessary documentation is complete and available.
• Under the direction of the radiologist, facilitates multi-modality patient education to ensure understanding of proposed breast imaging care plan.

• Ensure breast biopsy orders are correct and scheduled in the appropriate Imaging modality per radiologist’s recommendation

• Tracks previous biopsies for Outside Films (negative and positive) and assures previous outside surgical markers are accounted for in planning.

• Assist with all breast biopsies in Mammography, US and MRI departments. Includes responsibility for procedural charting in Epic for consent and time out. Also, may include documentation of medications, supplies, implants and pulling intra-procedure medications from the Pyxis.

• Educates the patients post biopsy.

• Gathers results and may be present for follow up consultations.

• Calls non-oncology patients with biopsy results and instructs on pathway for care.

• Works with clinic/surgical teams to develop breast drain process for post-op seromas of the breast and axilla. Educates patients on output and removal.
• Works as part of the healthcare team to provide excellent patient care in the Imaging department. Perform tasks as outlined in facility policies and procedures, as required by regulating agencies and according to best nursing practices. Including, but not limited to limited central line care, procedure assist and medication administration.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

• Graduate of NLNAC or CCNE school of Nursing
• 1-2 years clinical nursing experience.,
• RN IL State License
• BLS required
