Job Summary;
Grady Memorial Hospital is seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for its Float Pool team. The RN will provide high-quality patient care across multiple critical care and acute care areas throughout the hospital. This role requires flexibility, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to adapt quickly to different patient populations and unit workflows.
The ICU Float Pool RN may be assigned to:
- All Critical Care Units
- Emergency Department
- Emergency Department Holds
- Medical Telemetry/Step-Down Units
- PACU Holds
Note: When assigned to the Emergency Department, patient assignments will be limited if functioning within the actual ED environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for critically ill and high-acuity patients.
- Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changes in status.
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and hospital policies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic EMR.
- Adhere to hospital safety standards, infection prevention guidelines, and nursing best practices.
- Provide patient and family education as appropriate.
Requirements:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience in a comparable acute care facility
- Experience floating between multiple critical care settings preferred
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
- Experience with Epic EMR
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing unit needs
