Registered Nurse – Interventional Radiology (RN – IR)

Shift Details
• Schedule Options:
• 4 x 10-hour shifts OR 5 x 8-hour shifts
• Shift Timing: Monday – Friday (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
• No weekend requirement (unless specified by unit)
The Registered Nurse – Interventional Radiology (RN – IR) is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care across pre, intra, and post interventional radiology procedures.
This role requires experience in critical care and/or surgical nursing, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively with radiologists and procedural teams.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
• Provide pre, intra, and post procedural care for IR patients
• Monitor patient condition and respond to clinical changes
• Assist in interventional radiology procedures
Procedural Support
• Prepare patients and procedural rooms
• Assist with procedures such as biopsies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tubes, etc.
• Ensure proper positioning and procedural readiness
Patient Care & Safety
• Administer medications including sedation and emergency drugs
• Monitor for adverse reactions (contrast, sedation, etc.)
• Follow radiation safety and infection control protocols
Team Collaboration
• Work closely with radiologists and IR team
• Coordinate care plans with physicians and care teams
• Delegate tasks to support staff
Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation (Cerner)
• Follow hospital policies and regulatory standards
• Participate in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives
Must-Have Qualifications
• Active Illinois RN License (Required)
• ACLS Certification (Required)
• BLS/CPR Certification (Required)
• Experience in Critical Care and/or Surgical Nursing
• Experience with EMR / Cerner
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in Interventional Radiology
• BSN Degree (Preferred)
• Strong procedural and acute care experience
