Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (L&D)

Location: Oklahoma
Experience Required: Minimum 1 year of L&D/RN experience
EMR: Epic
Shift: Based on facility requirements

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery provides comprehensive, safe, and patient-centered nursing care to women and newborns throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum process. The RN assesses patients, develops individualized care plans, monitors maternal and fetal status, and collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum.
  • Assess maternal and fetal conditions and recognize changes requiring intervention.
  • Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and respond appropriately to abnormalities.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and hospital policies.
  • Assist with labor and delivery procedures and provide immediate care as needed.
  • Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, postpartum care, and discharge instructions.
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in Epic.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, midwives, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Prioritize patient care and demonstrate sound clinical judgment in changing situations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, education, and mandatory training.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant L&D/RN experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Valid Oklahoma RN License or Compact RN License.
  • BLS certification.
  • NRP certification.
  • Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) certification/training.
  • Epic EMR experience preferred/required based on facility requirements.
  • Strong clinical, communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience within the health system.
  • Experience with high-risk labor and delivery patients.
  • Knowledge of fetal monitoring, maternal complications, and clinical pathways.
