Contract Details

  • Position Type: Contract
  • Contract Duration: 3 months
  • Pay Rate: $75.00 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: Night Shift, 3x12 Hours (19:00 7:30). Most likely a straight Night Shift position. If clinician is needed to cover both nights and days, schedule flips every 4 weeks.
  • Guaranteed Hours: 60 hours per 2 weeks traveler can be called off for 1, 12-hour shift per 2 weeks.
  • Travel Requirements: Local candidates not accepted candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility.
  • Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Job Summary

This is a Labor and Delivery RN travel contract position at an acute hospital in Anchorage, AK. The unit is a high-risk L&D unit featuring 10 OB Triage rooms, 10 LDR rooms, 3 OR suites, and 4 PACU rooms. Average daily deliveries are around 7, but the unit often has up to 14 patients with inductions and high-risk antepartum cases. OB Triage averages 4 5 third-trimester testing patients as well as an influx of triage patients each day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care in a high-risk Labor and Delivery unit, including OB Triage/Testing (5 10 patients) and LD/Antepartum (7 14 patients).
  • Float to like units within scope to meet facility needs, if needed.
  • Serve as charge nurse or be willing to train as charge nurse, per unit direction.

Required Skills

  • Charge experience preferred, or willingness to train as charge nurse.
  • Ability to work every other weekend as required.
  • Ability to float within scope to like units to meet facility needs.

Education Requirements

  • AK RN License required (must be in hand for Auto Offer; pending license accepted but Auto Offer requires license in hand).
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • AWHONN Intermediate certification required.
  • AWHONN Advanced certification required.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience required.
  • First-time travelers accepted.

  • Facility Type: Acute Hospital.
  • Magnet Facility, Level II Trauma Center, USNWR Best Hospital in Alaska.
  • Total Staffed Beds: 407.
  • Charting System: Epic.
  • Scrub Color: Provided by facility.
  • Parking: Free.
  • On-call: Not required.
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend.
  • Block schedule: Not accommodated.
  • COVID-19 vaccination: Not required.

Important Notes

  • Must have AK RN License in hand for Auto Offer. Pending license accepted, but Auto Offer will not be extended until license is received.
  • Local candidates not accepted candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility.
  • All RTO (time off) requests must be included in the submittal. Time off is approved on an individual basis upon offer.
