Job Summary

This is a Labor and Delivery travel nursing assignment at an acute care hospital in Fullerton, CA. The facility is a 320-staffed-bed acute care hospital. The role requires expert-level experience, including the ability to perform sterile vaginal exams independently and without supervision. AWHONN Advanced certification is a hard stop requirement. EPIC experience is required. The patient ratio is 1:2, and the traveler will be expected to float to mother baby as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform sterile vaginal exams independently and without supervision this is a hard stop requirement
• Perform triage functions as required by the unit hard stop requirement; do not screen or pass candidates who cannot meet this
• Provide labor and delivery nursing care at a 1:2 patient ratio
• Float to mother baby unit as needed per assignment requirements
• Work weekends as required every other weekend minimum; may exceed to meet unit need
• Adhere to facility scheduling requirements; scheduling preferences may be considered but are not guaranteed
• Scheduling requests due to additional outside employment will not be considered
• Chart using Meditech as the facility's designated charting system

Required Skills

• Expert-level Labor and Delivery nursing experience must be able to perform sterile vaginal exams independently without supervision
• EPIC experience required
• Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required (candidates with 1.5 2 years may be considered depending on experience; 1.5 years is a hard stop minimum)
• Ability and willingness to float to mother baby unit
• Availability to work weekends every other weekend at minimum, may exceed to meet unit need
• Willingness to work night shift (3x12, 19:00 7:30)
• RTO (requested time off) must be included at time of submission
• Open to block scheduling at manager's discretion

Education Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) license required pending license not accepted
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
• AWHONN Advanced certification required (hard stop; must have a passing certificate)
• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience required; candidates with as little as 1.5 years may be considered depending on experience level 1.5 years is a hard stop minimum
• First-time travelers accepted

• AWHONN Advanced certification is a hard stop candidates must have a passing certificate. Do not screen or submit candidates without this certification.
• Sterile vaginal exams and triage are hard stop requirements do not screen or pass candidates who cannot perform sterile vaginal exams independently and without supervision.
• EPIC experience is required do not submit candidates without it.
• Pending RN license is NOT accepted.
• Local radius is 50 miles please contact the account manager for local rate information.
• RTO must be included at the time of submission.
• Weekend availability is required every other weekend at minimum; this may exceed every other weekend to meet unit need.
• Scheduling preferences may be considered but are not guaranteed; scheduling requests due to additional outside employment will not be considered.
• Block schedule is open at manager's discretion.
