The Maternal Lactation Registered Nurse supports patients' individualized feeding goals throughout the inpatient stay, promoting optimal breastfeeding initiation, dose, and duration following discharge. This role proactively protects and advocates for breastfeeding during critical postpartum periods through education, support, and evidence‑based practice.
