Coordinates and delivers patient care using the health care team philosophy practice model. Coordinates and does patient teaching and discharge planning. Coordinates activities with ancillary departments. Maintains standards of department and the hospital. Reports to Nurse Manager or designee.

Graduate of an accredited program in nursing. Previous experience in general duty nursing preferred, but not required. Two years of prior nursing medical surgical experience preferred. Current Registered Nurse license to practice in the state.

Responsibilities and Requirements

Provides the best possible nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing the nursing functions of patients on the unit. Employee must demonstrate ability to recognize patients individual needs based on medical conditions, age (adolescents, young adults, middle-aged and geriatric), limitations and planned procedures. Requires good judgment in delivering patient care; good oral and written communication skills; ability to function in stressful situations; current review in CPR. Advanced resuscitation as per areas requirement preferred. Classified as a specialty skills area. Must be willing to rotate shifts, days off and work area; may occasionally be required to work overtime.
