• Pay Rate: $55.00 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Night Shift (3 12 Hours), 6:45 PM 7:15 AM

Job Summary

This is a Medical Surgical Neuro travel nursing contract position at a regional medical center in Wilmington, NC. The unit specializes in Neuro Surgical Procedures and Neuro diagnoses, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 6. The unit uses Pyxis, SBAR, and EPIC for medication management, documentation, and communication, and scheduling is manager-driven. Scrub color is Navy. Both local candidates and travelers are accepted.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide medical-surgical and neurological nursing care to patients with Neuro Surgical Procedures and Neuro diagnoses.
• Maintain a patient assignment ratio of 1:5 6 per shift.
• Work 36 or 48 hours per week; if 48 hours, overtime is not billed until after the 48th hour (Days).
• Complete 2 orientation shifts on the unit following hospital-based orientation.
• Float to other units as required per float requirement policy.
• Complete 12 16 weekend shifts per contract; the unit is flexible with this requirement and would like to discuss with the traveler.
• Be assigned and expected to work on a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team; contract staff may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster.
• Be aware that consolidation to the Centralized Office mid-contract may occur and that contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed.

Required Skills

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
• Proficiency with Pyxis (medication management system).
• Proficiency with EPIC (documentation system).
• Proficiency with SBAR (communication framework).
• Ability to manage a patient ratio of 1:5 6.
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty.
• Ability to float to other units as required.
• Ability to fulfill weekend shift requirements (12 16 shifts per contract).
• Ability to participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments as required.

Preferred Skills

• Neuro experience preferred.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIH) certification preferred.
• Traveler experience (not required; first-time travelers accepted).

Education Requirements

• Current RN License required.
• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification required.
• NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred.
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start (pre-start requirement for this specialty).

• Traveler experience: not required.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Night shift position: 6:45 PM 7:15 AM, 3 12-hour shifts.
• Unit specializes in Neuro Surgical Procedures and Neuro diagnoses.
• Float requirement: Yes staff may be floated to other units.
• Weekend requirement: 12 16 weekend shifts per contract; unit is flexible and will discuss with traveler.
• Blocked scheduling may be accommodated depending on the request; please inquire during submission process.
• RTO (Return to Travel Origin): 7 days MAX; NO RTO.
• Contract staff will be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team; may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters.
• Mid-contract consolidation to Centralized Office may occur; contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed.
• Flu vaccination required medical/religious exemptions only.
• Scrub color: Navy.
