Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical Unit

A full-time Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse opportunity is available at a 290-bed acute care Level II Trauma Center in Hudson, Florida. This established hospital has been serving the northwest Pasco County community since 1981 and is home to a nationally recognized Heart Institute. This role offers the chance to provide meaningful bedside care in a fast-paced, supportive acute care environment.

The Med/Surg RN is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care through the full nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes. This position involves administering medications per physician orders, maintaining accurate and timely documentation, and supporting patients throughout their hospital stay. Patient and family education is a key focus, ensuring clear understanding of medications, treatment plans, and recovery expectations.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to medical-surgical patients using the nursing process.

• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders.

• Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changes in status.

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including test and lab results.

• Educate patients and families on medications, care plans, and discharge instructions.

• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to support quality outcomes.

• Follow hospital policies, safety standards, and evidence-based nursing practices.

Qualifications:

• Current Florida Registered Nurse license or compact RN license required (Florida licensure within 90 days if applicable).

• Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

• Previous acute care experience strongly preferred.

• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

• Additional Basic Cardiac Life Support required within 30 days of hire.

• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills.
