    Job Description

    A full-time Registered Nurse opportunity is available in the Medical-Surgical unit of a 585+ bed Level I Trauma Center in Kansas City, Missouri. This facility also serves as a Primary Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center, providing a high-acuity environment with a diverse patient population. The unit cares for adult medical, surgical, cardiac, and neurological patients, including general, urology, and vascular post-operative cases.

    The Med-Surg RN is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized patient care plans. Nurses on this unit manage a mix of stable but higher-acuity Level I Trauma patients, offering exposure to complex cases with limited drip management and opportunities to build strong cardiac monitoring skills. The role also includes supervising non-licensed nursing staff and providing patient-centered education and emotional support tailored to individual needs, including age, culture, and clinical condition.

    Responsibilities:

    • Perform comprehensive patient assessments using established standards and protocols.

    • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.

    • Provide direct nursing care to medical, surgical, cardiac, and neurological patients.

    • Supervise and delegate tasks to non-licensed nursing staff within scope of practice.

    • Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and recovery plans.

    • Provide emotional support tailored to patient and family needs.

    • Monitor patient status and respond to changes in condition as needed.

    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support quality outcomes.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 1 year of acute care RN experience required (does not need to be recent).

    • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN required).

    • Active RN license in the state of practice or compact RN license in accordance with regulations.

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.

    • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and patient care skills.

    Schedule:

    • Full-time
