Registered Nurse/MICU

Contract Details

  • Position Type: Contract
  • Contract Duration: 3 months
  • Pay Rate: $62.00 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts (18:45 07:15), 3x12

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) setting
  • Monitor and manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Interpret and manage dysrhythmias
  • Obtain 12-lead EKG/ECG
  • Perform Central Venous Pressure (CVP) monitoring
  • Administer and manage IV insulin protocols
  • Monitor intake and output; perform urine output assessment
  • Access and manage ports
  • Perform arterial line management
  • Administer blood products
  • Provide central line care and management
  • Start and maintain IVs
  • Administer TPN/Lipids
  • Manage continuous IV sedation
  • Administer emergency medications
  • Administer and monitor procedural sedation
  • Titrate cardiac drips and vasoactive drips
  • Assist with chest tube insertion and removal
  • Manage BiPAP/CPAP
  • Provide care for ventilated patients
  • Manage High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
  • Interpret Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
  • Manage patients with pulmonary edema, pulmonary embolism, and respiratory failure
  • Perform suctioning (ETT, NT)
  • Manage ventilators
  • Implement infection prevention measures and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Monitor INR, PT/PTT
  • Manage high-output drains
  • Perform phlebotomy
  • Recognize infection in immunosuppressed patients
  • Care for patients with diagnoses including Sepsis, DKA, COPD, and Heart Failure
  • Assist with special procedures including central line insertion, chest tubes, arterial lines, and invasive monitoring
  • Float to Med-Surg if needed
  • Work every other weekend; minimum 6 weekend shifts per contract

Education Requirements

  • ACLS certification required
  • BLS certification required
  • NIHSS certification required
  • Current RN licensure required

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience required
  • First-time travelers not accepted; prior travel nursing experience required

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Night shift: 12-hour shifts, 18:45 07:15 (3x12)
  • Patient ratio: 1:2
  • No call requirement
  • Float requirement: Yes Med-Surg if needed
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend; minimum 6 weekend shifts per contract
  • Unit orientation: 24 hours
  • Scheduling type: Self-scheduling
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
  • Unit specialties include central line insertion, chest tubes, arterial lines, and invasive monitoring
