DESCRIPTION OF POSITION A Registered Professional Nurse, who under the supervision of the Emergency Department Manager, is responsible for the nursing care of patients assigned to him/her, and to direct others in patient care. The Emergency Department nurse maintains competence within, and accountability for, emergency nursing practice. The emergency nurse exercises sound judgement in accepting responsibility, delegating and seeking consultation. The emergency nurse respects the individuals right to privacy and confidentiality. (From the ENA Code of Ethics). QUALIFICATIONS Professional/Educational Current Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license. Certified by the American Heart Association to the level of Advanced Cardiac Life Support, or must attain within 6 Months of hire. Certification as an ECRN (Emergency Communication Registered Nurse) or must attain within two years of hire Certification as a Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS)preferred within 2 years of hire and must maintain certification. (*Registry Staff certification as TNS or TNCC acceptable.) Certification in either PALS (Pediatric Advance Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course), or must attain within 6 Months of hire. DCFS Mandated Reporter Certificate of Completion required. Certified by the American Heart Association in CPR. Personal Works effectively with others, possessing tact, discretion and diplomacy. Demonstrates leadership and teaching ability. Possesses the ability to work under pressure. Works effectively with others. Respects the individuals right to privacy and confidentiality. Actual pay will be determined by qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
