• Pay Rate: $68.00 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Night shift, 3x12 Hours, 19:00 07:30; every other weekend required

Job Summary

This is a Medical/Surgical Telemetry (MS/Tele) registered nurse position at a 528-bed tertiary care hospital in Rochester, NY. The unit is a high-volume complex care unit serving Medicine, ortho overflow, and complex long-term patients. Floating is required, and first-time travelers are accepted with appropriate patient ratio experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care on a high-volume MS/Tele unit with a patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7 for MedSurg
• Perform telemetry monitoring on the unit
• Utilize Rapid Response and Code teams as appropriate
• Manage patients with pacemakers (temporary and permanent)
• Perform feeding tube care and management
• Administer blood products
• Provide central line care and management
• Perform phlebotomy
• Manage peripheral line care
• Manage PICC lines
• Start IVs
• Implement and manage Heparin protocols
• Care for ortho trauma patients and total joint replacements
• Manage surgical drains
• Operate High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks
• Perform tracheostomy management
• Implement isolation precautions
• Perform wound care and wound vac management
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities as required
• Float to other units as required

Required Skills

• MS/Tele experience
• Telemetry on-unit monitoring
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system
• Experience with patient ratios of 1:6 (required); ability to manage 1:5 to 1:7 ratio for MedSurg
• Charge nurse experience

Education Requirements

• NY RN License required must be in hand at time of submission. No exceptions.
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required must include valid NIHSS documentation in submittal

Required Experience

• Patient ratio experience required: 1:6
• Charge nurse experience required
• First-time travelers accepted with experience meeting patient ratio requirements
