About the Role

The Electrophysiology Nurse Navigator plays a vital role in the patient journey, supporting individuals with cardiac arrhythmias and those undergoing electrophysiology procedures from hospital admission through outpatient follow-up. In this multifaceted role, you'll act as a care coordinator, educator, and advocate—working closely with electrophysiologists, inpatient teams, and clinic staff to ensure seamless care, optimize outcomes, and reduce hospital readmissions.

The position is primarily based at the Spokane Valley clinic, with occasional travel to other clinic locations and periodic coverage at Valley Hospital.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Patient Navigation & Advocacy

  • Coordinate follow-up care post-hospitalization
  • Educate patients and families on cardiac arrhythmias, electrophysiology procedures, device management, medications, and lifestyle considerations
  • Navigate barriers to care including insurance or scheduling issues
  • Develop and maintain ongoing supportive relationships with patients throughout their care journey

Hospital-Based Coordination

  • Round on inpatient units to identify electrophysiology patients and collaborate on post-procedure and discharge plans
  • Maintain a visible presence on the floor and participate in care coordination meetings
  • Collaborate with inpatient teams to ensure timely evaluation, procedure planning, and post-procedure management
  • Provide staff education, in-services, and training on electrophysiology procedures, workflows, and device management

Program Development & Quality Improvement

  • Assist with development and refinement of electrophysiology patient education materials
  • Educate new RN residents and cardiology fellows on electrophysiology protocols and device therapies
  • Monitor outcomes and track patient progress to support quality improvement initiatives

Team & Clinic Support

  • Support outpatient clinic operations during staff absences
  • Develop and maintain EP education materials for both inpatient and clinic use
  • Collaborate with billing, care coordinators, and leadership to streamline follow-up and device monitoring processes
