A healthcare facility in Bakersfield, California is seeking an experienced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week assignment. The NICU RN will provide specialized care for critically ill and premature newborns while working collaboratively with neonatologists and multidisciplinary care teams.
This role requires strong neonatal critical care skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to delivering compassionate care to infants and their families.
Cerner EMR experience is required for this assignment.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides advanced care for critically ill or premature newborns requiring intensive monitoring and specialized treatment.
The unit is designated as a Level III or Level IV NICU, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and treats infants with life-threatening conditions requiring advanced respiratory support, surgical care, and continuous monitoring.
Shift: Night Shift
Hours: 36 hours per week (3x12-hour shifts)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Assess and monitor neonatal patients with complex medical conditions
Develop and implement individualized care plans using the nursing process
Provide specialized NICU nursing care in accordance with established standards of practice
Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatric specialists, and interdisciplinary teams
Educate and support parents and families regarding infant care and treatment plans
Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans accordingly
Participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care
Delegate responsibilities and coordinate tasks among healthcare team members
Maintain accurate patient documentation and clinical records
Perform additional duties as assigned
Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Preferred
Experience
Acute care hospital experience – Preferred
NICU experience strongly preferred
Cerner EMR experience – Required
Licensure & Certifications
Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License – Required
BLS / CPR Certification – Required
