  • Pay Rate: $58.00 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: Night Shift 12-hour nights, 18:45 07:15 (3x12, 36 hours/week only)

Job Summary

This is a travel nursing contract position in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) at a healthcare facility in Charlotte, NC. The unit accepts 13-week contracts and first-time travelers, as well as local candidates. The position is a night shift role requiring 36 hours per week on 12-hour shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Care for premature infants (as low as 22 weeks gestational age) and all types of surgical infants, including patients with hypoxic injury.
  • Perform and assist with special procedures including Therapeutic Hypothermia, Nitric Oxide therapy, UAC/UVC line management, PCL management, Broviac line care, Tracheostomy care, GTT management, and Ostomy care.
  • Operate and manage unit equipment including Tecotherm, BCPAP, Ram NC, Alaris IV pumps, Med Fusion for feedings, Servo Vents, HFOV, Baby Leo, and Giraffe units.
  • Work within unit systems: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR, and 4P.
  • Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 4.
  • Participate in self-scheduling per unit needs.
  • Float as required to Peds/PICU/Nursery caring for infants up to and including 12 months.
  • Meet weekend requirement: 3 Fridays, 3 Saturdays, and 3 Sundays per 6-week period.

Required Skills

  • Ventilator (Vents) experience required
  • Proficiency with Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR, and 4P unit systems
  • Ability to operate NICU-specific equipment: Tecotherm, BCPAP, Ram NC, Alaris IV pumps, Med Fusion, Servo Vents, HFOV, Baby Leo, Giraffe

Education Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required
  • BLS certification required
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Level 3 or Level 4 ICN (Intensive Care Nursery) required

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Night shift: 18:45 07:15 (12-hour nights)
  • 36 hours per week only (3x12-hour shifts)
  • No on-call requirement
  • Float requirement: Peds/PICU/Nursery caring for infants up to and including 12 months
  • Weekend requirement: 3 Fridays, 3 Saturdays, and 3 Sundays per 6-week period
  • Self-scheduling per unit needs
  • Scrub colors: Navy blue or white
  • 24 hours of unit orientation provided
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Important Notes

  • RTO (Return to Origin) after booking is NOT allowed and is NOT allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could result in contract cancellation and DNR (Do Not Rehire).
  • Maximum RTO: 7 days for AYA Auto Offer.
  • Unit will accept 13-week contracts.
  • Unit will accept first-time travelers.
  • Local candidates accepted.
