Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides medical services within the scope and at the level of a Registered Nurse to preserve the health of employees and client personnel.

  • Ensures compliance with state and federal requirements, accreditation bodies, organization's policies, and clinical responsibilities.

  • Coordinates with the Doctor to ensure compliance with established policies regarding the delivery of high quality, timely, skilled nursing care.

  • Establishes, conducts, and maintains a training and assessment program to orient and integrate new-hire nursing staff to the contract and department.

  • Conducts initial, annual, and end of contract performance appraisals on all assigned nursing staff.

  • Practice as an ICU Nurse when in-patient care is required.

  • Ensure nursing staff practice their specialty based on demand in their work setting.

  • Enforces and adheres to infection control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substances regulations.

  • Practices, ensures, and enforces timely and accurate patient charting in the electronic medical record GER and patient care.

  • Ensures operation of medical and administrative equipment by following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, evaluating new equipment and techniques.

  • Maintains nursing department supplies and inventory by checking stock to determine supply and demand, anticipates necessary supplies, placing and expediting orders via Logistics, verifying receipt of supplies, using equipment and supplies as needed with first in and first out system to accomplish satisfactory results.

  • Produces satisfactory departmental results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, appraising job results, coaching/mentoring, counseling, and conducting disciplinary actions and plans.

  • Implements an effective, on-going system to measure, assess, and improve the quality of nursing care delivered to patients.

  • Evaluates operation and services in correlation to patient flow, productivity, and treatment needs of the population.

  • Ensures continuously improved patient care procedures and control mechanisms relating to quality and compliance.

  • Plans and adjusts work schedules and operations to meet mission objectives, priorities, deadlines, and standards of care.

  • Coordinates communication and promotes a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to healthcare.

  • Establishes and coordinates work schedules to ensure appropriately skilled (specialized) nursing coverage across all program clinics and departments.

  • Develops and implements nursing policies and procedures that promote wellbeing and safety.

  • Maintains quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards, analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems, identifying trends and recommending system improvements.

  • Records, maintains, and protects patient information in accordance with standard protocols, and the Privacy Act.

  • Protects patients' privacy through confidentiality, infection control procedures, assuring consistent medication administration, and assuring proper storage and maintenance procedures for all equipment and supplies.

  • Manages and provides oversight for monthly QAQC and Medication Reconciliation for all sites while ensuring MSSI facilities are meeting operational standards and metrics. Conducts root cause analysis with problem resolution for underperforming metrics and standards.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited nursing school.

  • Hold and maintain an active and unrestricted state nursing license free from any pending adverse actions and the ability to be favorability credentialed by Acuity policy.

  • Minimum of 5 years recent experience as a Registered Nurse with 3 of those years working in a critical care setting (ICU/CVICU/MICU).

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or comparable certification required.

  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) or comparable certification required.

  • All healthcare providers and medical support staff must have recent clinical experience in patient care for at least 6 months out of the past year.

  • Must be able to multi-task, be detail oriented, be organized, and have excellent verbal and communication skills.

  • Proficiency with computers and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required.

  • Must be able to perform duties in a stressful and high paced environment.

  • Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.
