Registered Nurse – Nursing Home Surveyor / Complaint Investigator – New Rochelle, NY

Location: New Rochelle, NY (full-time travel position)
Employment Type: Full-time
Pay: $60/hour, plus mileage reimbursement and premium pay for holidays and overtime.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Registered Nurse – Nursing Home Surveyor / Complaint Investigator to conduct surveys and complaint investigations at nursing homes, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. This role involves travel to on-site facilities, investigative work, and documentation to protect resident health and safety in long-term care settings.

Qualifications:
  • NYS Registered Nurse license.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience performing utilization review, claims adjudication, medical review, fraud investigation, surveillance, or monitoring; OR 3 years of clinical or administrative experience; OR a Bachelor's in Nursing and 2 years of clinical or administrative experience.
  • At least 1 year of survey experience.
  • SMQT certification preferred, but must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to on-site facilities.

Additional Requirements:
  • Flexibility with scheduling, as the state determines the work schedule.
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and evening shifts on a rotating basis, as needed.
  • This is a travel position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in surveys or complaint investigations, including allegations of abuse and neglect, and perform surveillance activities at nursing homes to determine compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Produce written documentation and draft Statements of Deficiencies (SOD) within required time frames, using Principles of Documentation.
  • Assess compliance with the Plan of Correction within the required time frame.
  • Complete data entry in federal and state reporting databases as required.
  • Participate in state monitoring during Immediate Jeopardy situations.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Testify in administrative hearings as needed.
  • Adhere to DOH work schedules, policies, and procedures.
  • Travel to on-site locations according to the work schedule.
