Job Description

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) at the detoxification facility provides direct nursing care to individuals undergoing medical detoxification from substances. The RN plays a critical role in ensuring patient safety, managing withdrawal symptoms, administering medications, and supporting patients through early recovery in a compassionate, trauma-informed environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments upon admission and throughout detoxification
• Monitor patients for signs and symptoms of withdrawal using standardized tools (e.g., CIWA-Ar, COWS)
• Administer medications as prescribed, including detox protocols and PRN medications
• Monitor vital signs, neurological status, and overall physical and mental condition
• Identify and respond to medical or psychiatric emergencies promptly and appropriately
• Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, psychiatrists, and interdisciplinary treatment team members
• Document nursing assessments, interventions, medication administration, and patient progress accurately and timely
• Provide patient education related to withdrawal, medications, safety, and recovery support
• Maintain compliance with facility policies, state regulations, and accreditation standards

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Ability to work effectively with individuals experiencing substance use disorders
