Registered Nurse - Oncology Infusion Outpatient Procedural - Part Time Day/Evening

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

• Provides general nursing care and personal care assistance to patients.
• Writes initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions and develops individual care plans for patients.
• Carries out physician orders such as administering prescribed medications or treatments, preparing an operating room, order lab tests, x-rays, etc...
• Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning. Monitors and restocks supplies.
• Assists provider during examinations, non-operative and operative procedures.
• Maintains aseptic techniques; actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.
• Assists in patient care related activities such as changes dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs, starting IV solutions and inserting tubes.
• Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members.
• Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties.
• Prepares and maintains records of patient charges.
• Variation of duties may result based on the assigned customer care unit(s). This may include differences in the specific clinical skills required of the RN. Unit based skill lists outline expectations beyond the house wide RN requirements. SYS-NURS-L Nursing Education Requirements Policy outlines current certification(s) required for specific areas of nursing practice and is considered to be part of the job description.
• In addition to requirements specified in the license and certification section below, current BLS certification for all areas of nursing practice is required. • Current certification may be required for the following areas of nursing practice: Emergency Care Center - ACLS, PALS Intensive Care Center & MSCC Lead - ACLS, PALS L&D - ACLS, NRP, - Experienced L&D nurses will obtain within 6 months and new L&D nurses will obtain at 1 year of experience NICU - NRP PEDS - PALS PCC/PACU/ENDO - ACLS, PALS Procedural - ACLS

• Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
• Enters and/or retrieves data from established computer files using knowledge of various computer software applications.
