Registered Nurse - Operating Room (Akron General)

Legacy Staffing has partnered with a world-class hospital in Akron, OH to hire an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN). This is a day-shift opportunity working primarily three 12-hour shifts with a pay range of up to $45/hour based on experience and skill level. We are seeking a skilled OR nurse with strong circulating experience who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment. This role focuses on providing direct perioperative nursing care, coordinating surgical procedures, advocating for patients, and supporting the surgical team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Provide direct nursing care to surgical patients throughout the perioperative process. 
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for assigned patient populations. 
• Complete ongoing patient assessments, recognize changes in condition, and respond appropriately. 
• Develop and update patient care plans while collaborating with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams. 
• Administer medications, treatments, and nursing interventions while maintaining accurate documentation. 
• Prepare operating rooms, equipment, instruments, implants, and supplies for scheduled procedures. 
• Anticipate the needs of surgeons and surgical team members during procedures. 
• Serve as a patient advocate by ensuring proper patient identification and surgical site verification. 
• Maintain operating room schedules and ensure surgical specimens are accurately identified and handled. 
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, professional development, and ongoing competency requirements. 
• Respond to on-call assignments, weekend rotations, and holiday coverage as required. 

Required Qualifications: 

• Minimum of 12 months of permanent Operating Room (OR) RN experience required. 
• Current Ohio RN License or Compact State RN License in hand. 
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. 
• Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN). 
• Strong circulating experience in a surgical setting. 
• Ability to successfully complete annual clinical competency requirements. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Scrub experience. 
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). 
• Two or more years of Operating Room nursing experience. 
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills. 

Schedule & On-Call Requirements: 

• Day Shift: Typically 9:00 AM - 9:30 PM 
• Three 12-hour shifts per week 
• On-call rotation required 
• Weekend and holiday rotation required 
• Start and end times may vary based on department needs
