Qualifications & Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing

• Current New York State RN license

• BLS required

• ACLS preferred

• Preceptorship, charge, and leadership abilities preferred for experienced RNs

• Experienced RN must possess thorough knowledge of nursing principles and the ability to provide quality patient care

• Ability to assess patient needs, including:

  • Clinical needs

  • Teaching needs

  • Mental needs

  • Spiritual needs

Clinical & Professional Responsibilities

• Recognize safety issues for self and others

• Assess and implement appropriate use of lifts to safely move patients

• Function effectively in stressful situations

• Demonstrate strong, creative problem-solving skills

• Demonstrate strong leadership skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate

• May be required to assume duties as a Charge Nurse

• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills required

• Knowledge of typical clinical equipment and instrumentation used to provide a safe and/or aseptic environment in an OR/ASU setting

• Ability to interpret lethal dysrhythmias

• On-call participation required, with a 30-minute response time
