    Job Description

    A hospital in Los Alamos is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as an OR Circulator within its surgical services team. This is a hands-on perioperative role focused on patient safety, coordination of care, and maintaining a smooth and efficient operating room environment.

    This position works closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical technologists to support safe, high-quality surgical procedures from start to finish.

    Position Overview

    The OR Circulator RN is responsible for managing and coordinating patient care throughout surgical procedures. This role ensures that all safety standards are met, communication flows effectively among the surgical team, and patients receive appropriate care before, during, and after surgery.

    A strong focus is placed on maintaining sterile technique, supporting surgical workflow, and responding quickly to changes in patient condition during procedures.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Coordinate and manage patient care throughout the intraoperative period
    • Perform preoperative patient assessments and verify surgical readiness
    • Ensure adherence to sterile technique and operating room protocols
    • Document surgical procedures and intraoperative events accurately
    • Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical staff
    • Monitor patient status during procedures and respond to clinical changes
    • Support safe positioning, preparation, and transfer of surgical patients
    • Participate in surgical counts, time-outs, and safety check processes
    • Maintain a safe, efficient, and organized operating room environment

    Qualifications

    • Associate Degree in Nursing required
    • Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license required
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
    • Clinical experience in an operating room setting preferred
    • Strong communication, organization, and critical thinking skills in a surgical environment
