• Contract Duration: 3 months
• Pay Rate: $45.00 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: 8-hour Days only. Will consider 4x8s or 5x8s. RN will be working a mix of two shifts: 06:00 14:30 and 07:30 16:00. Prep starts at 06:00 and PACU at 07:30.
• Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Job Summary

This is a travel/contract Registered Nurse position in a PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) setting at an ambulatory/outpatient surgery center in Charlotte, NC. The unit serves a daily census of approximately 40 patients across 9 rooms/beds, with a mix of pre-operative and post-anesthesia care responsibilities. Local candidates are welcome with a waived local rate. First-time travelers are accepted. The unit does not have a computerized charting system and operates per unit scheduling needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients across all age groups: Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics
• Deliver discharge instructions to patients and families
• Perform medication reconciliation
• Obtain operative/procedural consent
• Start and maintain IVs
• Apply Malignant Hyperthermia Protocol as indicated
• Conduct pain assessment and management
• Float to other Charlotte area ASCs only if needed (COSC, Ballantyne ASC, Huntersville ASC, and Center City) expected rarely
• Complete 3-day unit orientation upon start

Required Skills

• Ambulatory/Outpatient work setting experience
• IV Therapy/Phlebotomy: Starting and maintaining IVs
• Pre/Post Op Care: Discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, and obtaining operative/procedural consent
• Malignant Hyperthermia Protocol
• Pain assessment and management

Preferred Skills

• Work Setting: Pedi PACU, Phase I PACU, and Phase II Recovery
• Surgery Cases: ENT, General, and Ophthalmology
• ENT Skills: Tonsillectomy
• Medications: Emergency medications, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents
• Ophthalmology: Cataract extraction/implant and eye trauma
• Pediatrics: Management of pediatric patients
• Respiratory: Airway assessment and placement of oral/nasal airways
• Types of Anesthesia: General, Local, and Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC)
• Pre/Post Op Care: Follow-up phone calls, obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG, and pre/post operative procedures

Education Requirements

• ALS (Advanced Life Support) certification required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• First-time travelers accepted

• Call Requirement: None

• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Important Notes

• RTO (Return to Origin) after booking is NOT allowed and is NOT allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could result in contract cancellation and DNR (Do Not Rehire).
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty.
• RTO: 7 days maximum for AYA Auto Offer.
