Position Summary/Department Summary:
The Pain Rehabilitation Centers at Boston Children’s Hospital are intensive interdisciplinary day treatment programs for patients ages 8-26 who experience functional impairments due to chronic pain. Using a biopsychosocial model of care, the programs provide coordinated interdisciplinary care to support symptom management, functional restoration, and return to daily life activities.
This is a newly developed nursing role and will serve as the primary nursing position supporting both programs. Key responsibilities include coordinating admissions, triaging patient concerns, and supporting the delivery of interdisciplinary patient care.
Key Responsibilities:- Support admission, discharge, and follow-up clinic workflows, including obtaining or reviewing vital signs, completing medication reconciliation, administering oral medications, and coordinating laboratory testing, imaging, and specialty consultations as indicated.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for triaging calls, messages, and clinical concerns for prospective, current and former patients. Escalate clinical concerns appropriately while providing education and reinforcing treatment plans.
- Coordinate referral, waitlist, and intake workflows for both programs by leading weekly interdisciplinary waitlist meetings and collaborating closely with the team to maintain program census.
- Participate in daily interdisciplinary rounds and collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care aligned with the biopsychosocial model of pain treatment.
- Provide supervision for clinical assistants.
- Facilitate patient education groups
- Provide additional program support by covering study/lunch sessions and structured therapeutic activities as needed.
- 40-hour position - Monday through Friday 7am-330pm, no weekends, no holidays. Eligible for full time benefits.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Experience:- A minimum of 1 year of inpatient acute RN experience required.
- 2+ years of acute pediatric RN experience preferred.
Licensure/Certifications:- Current Massachusetts license as a Registered Nurse (RN)
