• Pay Rate: $71.00 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Night (4x12 Hours), 7:00 PM 7:00 AM; every other weekend required

Job Summary

The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) is a 26-bed critical care step-down unit dedicated to providing exceptional, evidence-based care to patients. The unit receives patients from many areas including, but not limited to, the Emergency Department, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit, and medical-surgical floors. The patient population consists of adult, acute care patients who require more specialized care than is available on a general medical-surgical unit. All patients have continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring. The unit cares for patients needing airway management, acute BIPAP support, patients with arterial lines, central lines, and patients requiring titrated medicated IV infusions. Patient care services vary widely depending on each individual's specific needs. The team adapts quickly, is vigilant, and provides compassionate care using a multi-disciplinary approach.

Key Responsibilities

Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency Response

• Interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Management of dysrhythmias
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams

IV Therapy / Phlebotomy

• Peripheral Line Care/Management

Respiratory

• Nasal Cannula
• Oxygen face masks
• Portable Oxygen tank
• Non-invasive airway management

Professional Topics and Skills

• Isolation Precautions

Required Skills

• Must be able to take a 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio for MedSurg
• Must have EPIC experience (charting)

Education Requirements

• NY RN License required must be in hand at time of submission. NO EXCEPTIONS.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• NIHSS certification required must be included in submittal

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience required

• Specialty: MSDU RN
• Shift: 4x12 Nights
• Every other weekend required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates must be within a 75-mile radius
• Type of Facility: Tertiary Care Hospital
• Total Staffed Beds: 528
• Scrub Color: Any combination of navy and white

Important Notes

• NIHSS certification must be included in the candidate submittal no exceptions.
• NY is not a Compact state; a NY RN license must be physically in hand prior to submission.
