Registered Nurse - PCU

Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). In this critical role, you'll deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions. With a focus on patient safety and positive outcomes, you will be an essential part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to excellence in healthcare. Required Skills:
  • Valid RN license with current certification(s) in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care experience, preferably in a PCU or similar setting
  • Proficiency in managing titratable medications such as Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, and Levophed (manager approval required if absent)
  • Experience with chest tube management, tracheostomies, peritoneal dialysis, and lumbar CSF drains (preferred)
  • Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to start
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Adept at charting using Meditech Expanse EMR system
  • Ability to work confidently in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with I-stat testing and ventilator management
  • Knowledge of stroke protocols and TPA administration
  • Comfort with supporting advanced patient care procedures
  • Bilingual abilities or additional certifications related to emergency or cardiac care

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program
  • At least 2 years of recent experience working in an acute care hospital, ideally within a PCU, step-down, or telemetry unit

Other Requirements:
  • Working every Monday and Tuesday on a 5/2 rotation schedule, with mandatory weekend and holiday coverage as specified
  • Ability to work night shifts and adhere to the designated schedule
  • Willingness to wear designated scrubs in pewter color and maintain professional appearance
  • Parking available in designated areas at no cost
  • Up-to-date licensure and required certifications, with reimbursements provided for travel and related expenses where applicable
