A hospital in Fort Myers is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its Progressive Care Unit (PCU) focused on surgical and post-procedural patients. This role offers the opportunity to care for patients who require a higher level of monitoring and clinical support than a traditional medical-surgical unit, while not requiring intensive care services.

Position Overview

The PCU Surgical RN provides comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from surgery and other procedures. Working closely with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals, this nurse plays a key role in monitoring patient progress, identifying changes in condition, and supporting safe recovery and discharge planning.

This position is ideal for nurses who enjoy caring for moderately complex patients in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to surgical and post-procedural patients in a progressive care setting
• Perform ongoing patient assessments and monitor clinical status throughout recovery
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards
• Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care plans
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Support patient safety, quality initiatives, and evidence-based nursing practices
• Facilitate smooth transitions of care throughout the hospitalization process

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Minimum of 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience within the last 2 years required
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple patients in a progressive care environment

Benefits

• Relocation assistance package including $7,000 relocation support and up to $1,800 per month housing assistance for 3 months
• Shift differential opportunities
• Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
• Retirement savings program
• Paid time off and holiday benefits
• Continuing education and professional development opportunities
• Career advancement opportunities within a growing healthcare organization
• Collaborative team environment focused on quality patient outcomes

This opportunity is well suited for a nurse seeking to expand clinical skills while caring for surgical patients in a progressive care setting that bridges medical-surgical and critical care services.
