Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team. As a PICU Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing specialized care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents. Your dedication, expertise, and ability to work in a fast-paced and emotionally challenging environment will make a significant impact on the well-being of our young patients and their families. Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of pediatric patients, including monitoring vital signs, evaluating symptoms, and identifying changes in condition.
Care Planning: Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients based on their specific needs, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal care.
Medication Administration: Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols.
Monitoring: Continuously monitor patients' vital signs, ventilator support, and response to treatments, making timely adjustments as necessary.
Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with patients, their families, and healthcare providers to provide updates on patient progress and address any concerns or questions.
Emergency Response: Respond promptly and confidently to pediatric emergencies, providing life-saving interventions as needed and following established resuscitation protocols.
Family Support: Offer emotional support and education to patients' families, explaining treatment plans, answering questions, and addressing their concerns.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including nursing assessments, care plans, and medication administration records.
Infection Control: Adhere to strict infection control practices to minimize the risk of healthcare-associated infections in the PICU.
Professional Development: Stay updated on pediatric nursing best practices and participate in ongoing education and training to enhance clinical skills.
Qualifications:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required, and American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in PICU within the last 5 years required.
Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
Commitment to providing compassionate and family-centered care.
Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
