Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team. As a PICU Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing specialized care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents. Your dedication, expertise, and ability to work in a fast-paced and emotionally challenging environment will make a significant impact on the well-being of our young patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of pediatric patients, including monitoring vital signs, evaluating symptoms, and identifying changes in condition.
  2. Care Planning: Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients based on their specific needs, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal care.
  3. Medication Administration: Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols.
  4. Monitoring: Continuously monitor patients' vital signs, ventilator support, and response to treatments, making timely adjustments as necessary.
  5. Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with patients, their families, and healthcare providers to provide updates on patient progress and address any concerns or questions.
  6. Emergency Response: Respond promptly and confidently to pediatric emergencies, providing life-saving interventions as needed and following established resuscitation protocols.
  7. Family Support: Offer emotional support and education to patients' families, explaining treatment plans, answering questions, and addressing their concerns.
  8. Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including nursing assessments, care plans, and medication administration records.
  9. Infection Control: Adhere to strict infection control practices to minimize the risk of healthcare-associated infections in the PICU.
  10. Professional Development: Stay updated on pediatric nursing best practices and participate in ongoing education and training to enhance clinical skills.
Qualifications:
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required, and American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in PICU within the last 5 years required.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate and family-centered care.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
