An established primary care practice in the Pineville area is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide clinical care, patient education, and nurse triage support. This position works closely with providers and clinical staff to coordinate care for patients with acute and chronic conditions.
Schedule: Full-time, Monday Friday, 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Location: Pineville/South Charlotte area
Responsibilities
Assess patients, obtain medical histories and vital signs, and document findings in the EHR
Provide nursing care according to clinical guidelines, legal requirements, and established standards
Carry out provider-ordered treatments and administer medications
Start IVs, administer IV fluids, and monitor patient responses
Educate patients and families on medications, insulin, inhaler use, and acute and chronic condition management
Complete medication refills, prior authorizations, forms, and electronic orders
Monitor quality data related to acute and chronic care
Serve as the primary clinical resource for walk-in emergencies, including chest pain, fainting, and hypoglycemia
Participate in emergency response procedures when needed
Support Medical Assistants and patient flow during busy periods
Delegate appropriate responsibilities within the state Nurse Practice Act
Nurse Triage
Evaluate patient calls escalated by Medical Assistants
Assess symptoms and determine the appropriate level and urgency of care
Schedule patients with a practice provider or direct them to urgent care when appropriate
Refer patients with high-risk symptoms to the emergency department or arrange emergency transportation
Provide approved home-care guidance when emergency treatment is not required
Consult with providers as needed and document all advice and communication in the EHR
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred
Active North Carolina Registered Nurse license
Current American Heart Association or client BLS certification
ACLS certification if required for the assigned clinical area
At least one year of professional nursing experience; outpatient or primary care experience preferred
Experience using an electronic health record system
Strong clinical judgment, communication, triage, and patient-service skills
Required health documentation includes a TB screening and Hepatitis B and influenza vaccination records or applicable declination forms.
Candidates must be able to remain active throughout the workday, use a computer for extended periods, and lift or support up to 35 pounds.
